Chronic lower back pain, surgery avoided
A 65-year-old man with chronic lower back pain was referred for a lumbar fusion, presented as the only way to resolve his complaints. The second opinion concluded that the procedure was not indicated and that the imaging findings alone did not explain the reported pain. Conservative treatment was chosen instead, with targeted rehabilitation, and the patient improved favorably without surgery.
Two proposals, side by side
A 48-year-old woman with recurrent disc herniation and pain at the L4 level was assessed by two specialties. The spine surgeon proposed vertebral fusion with instrumentation; the pain specialist recommended neuromodulation, without fusion. The CW1 team reviewed both proposals together and presented them to the patient side by side, along with the risks and benefits of each. With the full picture in front of her, she was able to make an informed choice.

The clinical care agreement is contracted directly between you and the doctor or partner clinic registered with the ERS (Health Regulatory Entity).
